The Batman - Filming in Liverpool (October 2020)

Liverpool has featured in many Hollywood blockbusters over the years (join our tour to find out more!) and that trend is continued this month in the form of Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

An all star cast including Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and many more will all appear in the up and coming adventure, featuring the caped crusader and film fans will be able to see Liverpool doubling for the fictional home of Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gotham City.

We were on hand to visit the locations as filming took place across the region, so check out our latest video to see some of the spectacular stunts, locations and behind the scenes happenings of one of the biggest up and coming films on the cinematic horizon.

David Lean’s classic film Lawrence of Arabia has become a cinematic staple for lovers of film since its release back in 1962 and quite rightly. It is jam packed with some tremendous performances, breathtaking locations, a staggering soundtrack and innovative editing just to name a few - but did what do you know of the real Lawrence of Arabia?

Well, luckily for you, Reel Tours is on hand to show you just where his story began, as we visited the house he was born and lived in during his earliest years.

John Lennon NYC Locations - The Dakota Building & Strawberry Fields

Being from Liverpool, the idea of staying in New York City and not visiting any of the locations associated with John Lennon seemed like a totally alien concept, so of course, I put the time aside to visit The Dakota Building and Strawberry Fields which is located in Central Park. Check out our John Lennon pilgrimage on the video below!

The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan (1963) - Album Cover Location

We visited the location in New York City of where the photograph on the cover of Bob Dylan's second album 'The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan' was taken.

NYC is filled with locations worthy of pop-culture pilgrimages and although cinema is our usual port of call, this is certainly a spot that was worthy of a video, due to Dylan's association with movies, as well as music.

Rocky (1976) - Filming Locations

Our American travels continued to Philadelphia - home to numerous seminal films, however it was steps leading up to the Museum of Art which was our most anticipated to visit. These steps of course are a focal point of the Rocky franchise which began back in 1976.

Watch the video below to see how the location appears in real life as opposed to through the cinematic eye of Hollywood!

In June 2019 our American tour continued to Philadelphia. We headed straight to the Museum of Art, with a particular interest in the steps at the front of the building, due to their frequent use in the Rocky franchise. Being a lifelong devotee of all things 'Balboa' this was a particular pilgrimage that I had been wanting to make, for decades.

The Exorcist (1973) - Filming Locations

In June 2019, we set off on a road trip across the east cost of America on a film pilgrimage to some of our favourite flicks that where made across the pond. The first stop on our tour was Washington D.C.

Located a mere ten minute drive from the White House, the quaint suburb Georgetown is home to many important cinematic locations, with The Exorcist house/steps arguably being the crown jewel of the area.

Check out of video of the location and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel!
